FAQ

Besides the construction of a plant via an EPC, the financing, the legal review, e.g. of the EPC contract, as well as an independent yield report after completion of the plant are particularly important.

For financing, there are very good financing conditions for certains PV plants via the state-owned KfW Bank. In addition, there are a number of specialized banking institutions that can assist you with financing issues.

Legal support and review of the EPC contract is advisable, as this allows agreements that are disadvantageous to the owner, e.g. in the event of insolvency of the EPC, to be checked from the outset. This creates legal and planning security, also vis-à-vis the EPC.

After completion of a plant, it is advisable to check the performance of the new plant and thus the performance of the EPC with the help of an independent expert opinion.
Yes. In addition to extensive analysis and evaluation of the site, work such as soil excavation or fill will be performed as needed to optimize the site for the PV project.
As part of project planning and optimization, additional solutions such as storage or charging solutions for infrastructure, such as charging stations for e-cars, can also be included.
As a rule, the contract is completed after the PV system has been connected to the grid. However, some EPCs also offer technical management of the PV systems.
For the question of marketing the self-produced electricity, EPC's are usually not the right partners. For this you can turn to so-called "direct marketers".
"Contract Performance Guarantees": If the construction of a major structure is contracted, there is a risk that the facility may not be completed. Also, an existing repayment claim against the contractor, may fail if, for example, the contractor has become insolvent. Contractors can hedge against this risk by entering into a contract performance or down payment bond.

Yield assessments after/before commissioning: It can happen that general contractors overestimate the future yields of a PV system, for example because certain loss factors are not taken into account. For this reason, many banks, for example, generally reduce the calculations submitted by the general contractor by a certain percentage or insist on additional, independent expert opinions for larger plants over 10 MW.
